As part of AMITA Health’s Autism Seminar Series, join Partner Amy Gjesdahl, JD, discuss the types of decision-makers authorized by Illinois law to make decisions on behalf of a disabled adult, including agents under Powers of Attorney, trustees, guardians, and health care surrogates. This session will cover whether the decision-maker is legally entitled to make the decision at hand, the extent of a decision-maker’s authority, and what ethical standards they should apply when making decisions. This is a private presentation.

Amy Gjesdahl, JD is an Elder Law litigation attorney with 11 years of relevant experience. Her practice focuses on highly contested adult guardianships, guardianships for minors, probate estates and financial exploitation matters. Additionally, she practices in uncontested adult and minor guardianships, probate and trust administration and adult protective services matters. Amy serves as court-appointed Guardian ad litem (GAL) and Respondent’s counsel in guardianships. Amy guides her clients through their legal matters with both competency and compassion.
