Legal Remedies for Abuse, Neglect, and Financial Exploitation

Program objectives:

• Review rights and responsibilities of an agent under power of attorney including those that the agent doesn’t have
• Guidance on the guardianship process and the role, authority, and powers of a guardian
• Overview of legal remedies available to adult protective services including access and freeze orders
• Discussion of legal safeguards that can be put in place by clients to protect from neglect, abuse, and financial exploitation
